Route 81 was established in Copenhagen in 1995. Its function
in Denmark is to provide financial support for Hells Angels® members who are in
jail and their families. Route 81 support merchandise has been so well received
by the public that the franchise has spread to many parts of the world including
Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, the USA and now, Canada.
The trademarked name Hells Angels® is arguably one of the top fifteen branded names
in the world. Other Hells Angels® trademarked names like Big Red Machine and Route
81 are used for our clothing lines for the public. Trademark "use it or lose it"
laws dictate us to put some merchandise forth to protect our name. Hence the Hells
Angels® calendars will have the four main trademarks, (Hells Angels®, 2 crests,
front view crest), with their registered trademark registration numbers prominently
displayed for this purpose. Route 81 Ottawa is proud to be part of this ever-growing
franchise family. Canadian authorities continue to deny Hells Angels® lawful employment.
Employers are approached by police and heavily encouraged to deny members and friends
their jobs. Municipal licensing and licenses are denied or revoked from our members
that otherwise allow them to legally run businesses. Motorcycle show operators and
others are heavily pressured not to allow Hells Angels® to sell their support merchandise
in their venues. Authorities set in motion self-fulfilling prophecies regarding
their mantra about Hells Angels® being criminals. They do this by denying legitimate
employment. Route 81 employs Hells Angels® and friends in order to provide jobs
as well as giving the public the products that they want.
